“Joined forces” from near and far co-create with the objective: How do we design healthy and thriving practices?
Pratt Institute’s Creative Enterprise Leadership graduate programs in Arts and Cultural Management (ACM) and Design Management (DM) worked collaboratively with the School of Design & Innovation at The College of Management Academic Studies Israel, to encourage a global conversation on leading as if life matters.
Maya Calderon, Chair, M.A. Interdisciplinary Design Innovation & Entrepreneurship and her students began their visit by joining the DM and ACM classes in a collaborative workshop led by Professors Maren Maier and Leslie Kirschenbaum on our new Catalyst theme, ‘Designing Thriving.’ Together, they explored what it means to ‘thrive’ in our future world and began laying the groundwork for our year-long inquiry and practice into Designing Thriving.
Bringing ’thriving’ into a health context, the Israeli students then joined the Leadership and Team Building and Design Management classes to present new options for global health equity and innovation in healthcare. Professors Green, Agarwal and McBride joined Calderon and her colleague, Hila Hiner in creating this international seminar on emerging models of health care delivery.

Will one collaboration change healthcare? Only collaboration will. This collaboration introduced a possibility that in working together across borders and cultures we can learn how to design well being and care for those who need healing and holding.
After the event, Calderon said,
“On a personal note, it makes me very hopeful that with our joined forces we might be able to make our world a better and sustainable place to live and work.”
