Issue 11 Winter 2012

Giselle Carr is currently the Head of Brand Strategy and Planning at Inglefield/Ogilvy & Mather Caribbean Ltd. in Trinidad & Tobago, where she works with her team toward the company’s core belief of making the world a brighter place – for clients, their customers, the public, the countries within which they operate, and internally as well. She brings prior experience in graphic design, web design, editorial page design, marketing and infographic design to create research and marketing materials. A graduate of the Design Management Program at Pratt, she works to develop teams that discover, define, design and deliver strategic advantage, positioning firms and organizations across media platforms in worldwide markets.

Her passion lies in utilizing design to create positive change, and she believes that great design can change the way we do business, and ultimately the world. She feels strongly that the twenty first century’s unique problems require a synergistic approach, and that design intelligence can strategically address business and societal problems. During the past year at the company, she has worked with corporate entities, government ministries and bodies, as well as law enforcement agencies. The goal of the latter projects was to create value for communities in terms of national security and justice. In developing strategy for several of these entities, methodologies employed measured psychographic trends, cultural data and societal issues, pairing relevant brands that are uniquely positioned to address those societal needs, while helping them to increase business effectiveness simultaneously.

Giselle continues to work with strategic design as everyday practice, and towards developing triple bottom line by design business practices within her region, as well as global markets.

CATALYST

CATALYST | Leading Creative Enterprise is a platform for communication, applied research and exchange of the international graduate programs in creative enterprise leadership in Arts and Cultural Management (ACM) and Design Management (DM) at Pratt Institute, School of Art. In each issue, Catalyst focuses on creative enterprise. Each year we select a theme. Then, we search out the leaders, visionaries and entrepreneurs who embody that theme in practice. They are each leading as if life matters—creating economic value as they enrich our cultures, our lives, and our shared world.
