Infographic: The Power of the Holiday Consumer
By Adam Zoltowski
I’ve written a lot in the last month about the behaviors of consumers in relation to desire, and specifically the Christmas season. Good.is has a great infographic on how consumers would spend their money this season. The average per person was estimated at $689. Even more interesting is the alternatives the infographic provides, through the organization Mercy Corps, an organization that drives altruism through purchasing. For example: as opposed to buying an iPad for $499, you could help fund the literacy of 10 women, or educate 5 orphans who are suffering from the AIDS virus. It would be interesting to see how many people go for gifts like these, and truly sacrifice on the behalf of others during the Christmas season.
