Supercities: Evoking Action Through Design

By Erin Weber

I was drawn to the simple, yet powerful tone of this website. It was developed to gather support for an organization dedicated to researching and communicating the challenges people will face as the world’s population continues to gravitate towards “supercities.” Not only is it a successful example of evocative design, but it’s also a great representation of dynamic visuals being used to poignantly communicate a message. The consistent yet dynamic map becomes a canvas for various talking points. The text animation is engaging, yet not overdone to the point of detracting from the weight of the content. This is just one of the many interesting communication resources discussed in the Management Communications class at the Pratt Design Management program.
