It is of utmost importance to connect with likeminded action-oriented individuals and groups when practicing strategic design. Net Impact’s Conference is one clear way to do so. Net Impact is an international nonprofit organization with a mission “to inspire, educate, and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world.” Net Impact’s powerful network of professionals and students extends across six continents, and includes emerging leaders in CSR, social entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, international development, and environmental sustainability.

This year on October 27-29, 2011 Net Impact will host their 19th annual conference for 3 days in Portland, Oregon where they will discuss changing the world through business. The conference will shine a spotlight on unforeseen places people discover where “good” works. These changemakers, mentors, inspirers and promising leaders will delve into:

  • Creative problem solving and playful approaches that lead to serious solutions
  • Sustainable innovations championed by those you least expect
  • Unlikely partnerships that accelerate change

Guests will include professionals, MBAs and undergraduates from a variety of fields who are engaging their passions and energies towards business practices that will bring about social and environmental good. The conference guests will converge on some of the thorniest issues and challenges in corporate social responsibilities and sustainability. In the participatory sessions they will push boundaries and limits, seeking to advance themselves, their careers and the causes they are most passionate about.

CATALYST

CATALYST | Leading Creative Enterprise is a platform for communication, applied research and exchange of the international graduate programs in creative enterprise leadership in Arts and Cultural Management (ACM) and Design Management (DM) at Pratt Institute, School of Art. In each issue, Catalyst focuses on creative enterprise. Each year we select a theme. Then, we search out the leaders, visionaries and entrepreneurs who embody that theme in practice. They are each leading as if life matters—creating economic value as they enrich our cultures, our lives, and our shared world.
