Infographic: Comparing Costs of Living

by Juan Atuesta

How much does a Big Mac cost in Tel Aviv? What is the fare price of Internet in Johannesburg? Is it cheaper to go to the movies in Beijing? What is the cost of life around the world? To answer these questions, expatistan.com developed a database that with a simple questionnaire estimates the cost of the ‘average’ life in different cities. The CATALYST team found this statistic alone very interesting, but the information was missing a big part of the picture: the minimum wage. It matters not only how much 1 Kwh of electricity cost but if people can afford it. To explore the database yourself go to http://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living. Click on the image below to see a high-res version of the infographic.
